Michael Mtirara - COO

Michael is experienced in Managing Turnkey Projects in Substations, Overhead Lines, and Reticulation. He successfully managed highly complex projects in South Africa and other Sub-Saharan African countries.

His electrical engineering qualifications make him a valuable team member that enhances our legal service offering in the mining and renewable energy industries. Michael has been working as Project Manager for the Nxuba Wind Farm project and Oysterbay Wind Farm Substation. He was the Senior Project Engineer on a project in the Central and Northern Region of Malawi where he lead a team in the design, supply, civil works, installation and commissioning of four green fields substations and five brown field substations including underground power cables. Total project value - 13 million USD

Dean Manyengawana

Dean will be assisting us in training, legal project management and mine community matters. A former student at the University of Pretoria where he was involved in developing a Financial Literacy model, Dean brings a new dimension to our team focusing on community development, legal technology, training and legal project management. Dean adds great value to Inmiso's multi disciplinary approach to provide solutions to our clients.

Robert Botha- CEO

Robert is the founding member of INMISO with over 25 years’ working experience in the mining legal environment. He brings a wealth of experience with a proven track record of protecting and advancing the interests of various multi-national corporations.

His strength lies in building and managing high- performance, technically superior legal teams. Other areas of expertise include management of legal operations, risk management and compliance, commercial mining law, arbitration (local and international), labour law, community engagements as well as legal project management and product development.

Robert held several key legal and commercial positions including Business Development and Client Relationship Consultant at Hogan Lovells, Deputy Head of Legal at Anglo American, Head of Legal at Kumba Iron Ore and Legal Manager at Deloitte. He holds a BCom Law and BProc degree and is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

He has obtained an Advanced Diploma in Labour law and completed the Anglo American Management Development Programme. He further received the Anglo American Global Achiever Award for leading the team that triumphed in one of the biggest commercial mining law cases in South Africa.

Johan Deetlefs – CFO

Johan has worked in the mining industry for 27 years and is an experienced Finance professional with strong management experience across diverse disciplines and commodities.

These include accounting, tax, sales and marketing, legal, shipping, mining thermal coal, gold, platinum and by-products (palladium, copper, nickel, etc.) and diamonds. In addition, he has gained experience in Ocean-borne freight and port strategies, contracts of affreightment, marketing strategies that ensured optimal value for Kumba Iron Ore Ltd, managing tax exposure and business development.

Driven by his passion for the Mining Industry, he takes pride in providing the best holistic solution possible. As a corporate finance specialist with strong leadership skills, his goals include the maximation of people’s potential across cultural barriers, with emphasis on teamwork. Johan negotiated, established, and implemented the first Anglo American Exploration Joint Venture in China for Anglo Platinum. He was recognized by Anglo American and received an Achiever Award for his extraordinary work on developing and implementing a bespoke strategy for Kumba Shipping Hong Kong Ltd on Contracts of Affreightment.

Johan’s passion for people and leadership skills is evident in his role as Chief Representative for Anglo Platinum in Beijing China and his Chairmanship of the Anglo Platinum and Chinese Joint venture. Subsequently Johan was appointed General Manager and Director of Kumba Hong Kong Ltd. and Kumba Shipping Hong Kong Ltd. As a Finance professional, he specializes in negotiations, strategic planning, implementation, operations control, corporate governance, market development, and joint ventures.

Grant Nelson - Director: Commercial Mining and IP

Grant has more than 25 years’ experience in the Mining Industry across diverse legal disciplines. Grant was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1994.

He specialises in commercial law, intellectual property law and community relations. He has held various Legal Management positions at both Johannesburg Investment Company Ltd and Anglo American. Grant implemented and managed the Global Intellectual Policy and Strategy Portfolio for Anglo American.

Grant’s other areas of expertise include surface rights, resolution of restitution claims, the securing and protecting of intellectual property rights, commercial risk management, and general litigation. He has developed a cost-effective solution in the form of a bespoke Mining Rehabilitation Guarantee, that meets the financial provision requirements for environmental rehabilitation for mining companies, in compliance with the Regulations published under the National Environmental Management Act.

Bronwynne Mouton - Director: Corporate Governance, Commercial- and Contract Law

Bronwynne is an innovative and efficient attorney with strong analytical and strategical abilities.

She has an LL B and Masters Degree in Mercantile Law from the University of Pretoria, and is an admitted Attorney with Right of Appearance in the High Court of South Africa. She specializes in corporate governance, contractual law, company- and commercial law and has an affinity for litigation. She is a specialist in contract drafting, legal due diligence studies, feasibility studies and preparation of opinions on all corporate and commercial matters.

Bronwynne focuses on the establishment and development of corporate structures as well as tailored, full service corporate and commercial legal solutions.

Bronwynne gained many years’ intense experience as a senior associate at a prestigious Pretoria-based firm and has now established her own practice focusing on her areas of expertise. Mouton Inc. works in close collaboration with Inmiso, providing tailored legal services supporting Inmiso’s holistic, solution-based service to clients. This collective model superiorly distinguishes Inmiso from other, more traditional, legal services providers from an efficiency-, experience-, expertise- and cost perspective

Tjaart van der Walt – Director: Projects and Business Development

Tjaart has an excellent understanding of the intricacies associated with the mining industry and the legislation governing this diverse field.

He holds a LLB degree from the University of Pretoria and was admitted as an Attorney in 2012. He further obtained a Diploma in Computer Programming and amongst others, a Certificate in Advanced Labour Law (Cum Laude).

Tjaart was seconded to a major international mining company’s in-house legal department as a dedicated resource for the past eight years where he gained extensive experience in the corporate mining environment.

He worked on various large litigation projects and has a keen interest in developing and standardizing in-house processes.

Okkie Kellerman

Qualified CA(SA) with more than 27 years of experience, including all aspects of income tax planning. He focuses on the structuring of international transactions, transfer pricing planning and risk analysis for multi-national corporations with a general emphasis on complex domestic and international tax and exchange control issues.

Anne Dunn

Over 35 years communication and investor relations experience across all sectors of the economy. Her expertise is in investor relations and financial, crisis and litigation communication, corporate communication, reputation management, employee, and community communications. She has worked on transactions such as listings, mergers, acquisitions and disposals and business rescue projects.

Richard du Toit

Senior human resource professional with solid international experience. He was the former Group Director: Human Resources, Operations and Services at a major construction company where he was responsible for all Human Resources Operations and Services including construction, engineering (South Africa and the Middle East). He worked on projects situated in Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Nigeria, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia as well as on projects in the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia).

Jaco du Toit

Principal Project Engineer focused on renewable energy projects such as the construction of wind and solar farms. He holds a BSc degree –Construction Management and a diploma in quantity surveying and his core expertise is Project Management, Construction Management. .

As Principal Project Engineer, Jaco worked on a number of large renewable energy projects in South Africa, such as the Cookhouse Wind farm [140 MW EPC EBOP], Dorper Wind Farm [100MW EPC EBOP], Jeffrey’s Bay [140MW EPC EBOP], 220 kV Substation and Filter bank EPC project in Botswana and Namibia and the construction of a 22okV Substation in Kenya.

Liandra Taljaard

Holds B Juris and LLB degrees and obtained her MPhil degree in Medical Law and Ethics from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She has a Masters degree in Environmental Management (Cum Laude) and practiced as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa for several years before applying her skills in Environmental Management for Multinational Corporates. She is an expert in environmental legal compliance with a proven track record advising across the domains of various heavy and light industries. She has more than 22 years experience facilitating various compliance processes which are often conducted concurrently with different Government Authorities and various other external stakeholders.
